Welcome to the Humboldt Unified School District

The Humboldt Unified School District (HUSD) is located in one of the most beautiful areas of North Central Arizona.  With nearly 6,500 students, 10 schools, and more than 800 caring staff members, we offer high quality mindful education in a close-knit, nurturing environment.

 Message from the Superintendent

As I reflect on what our learning community has accomplished over the last several years, I see so many examples of how fortunate we are. The District is overseeing wonderful improvements taking place at our various sites thanks to the bond issue approved by our generous citizens. We have achieved measurable gains on the AIMS tests, allowing us to boast of two excelling schools, one highly performing school, four performing plus schools, and two performing schools. I am honored to be working with teachers, principals, and staff who are committed to excellence within the context of our Board Goals.

As the Superintendent of this remarkable District, I take my responsibilities very seriously and try to keep an eye toward the future. As with any growing organization, there are always challenges to face, both in the financial and academic realms. Our responsibility as educators is to constantly stay in touch with our internal and external stakeholders, maintain a close connection to the world of ideas around us, stay on top of issues, and consider the implications of educational trends for the benefit of those whom we serve.

Humboldt Unified School District is committed to creating communities of practice for improving teaching, leadership, and collaborative problem-solving. I am convinced that there is no more worthy goal than that of focusing on an educational system that prepares our students for life in a global knowledge/information age.

Dr. Henry Schmitt, Superintendent
